One of the most amazing places on earth. St. Anthony’s is the largest Orthodox monastery in the Western Hemisphere. It is the first properly sized monastery in America. It’s the resting place of Elder Ephraim, one of the greatest contemporary saints of our time. The level of spiritual life being lived out here is unmatched anywhere else. The uncreated energies of God are at work in this sacred ground.
Since they’re so big, they have large guest houses for both men and women. The monks also run a shuttle to pick people up from the airport free of charge. Definitely call ahead to reserve a room if you plan on staying overnight. More information is available on their website.
What an absolute beautiful place! There are many different shrines to visit, and the staff and people are super nice. This is definitely a hidden gem in Arizona!! Make sure that you abide by their clothing requirements, otherwise they have clothes at the front desk. There’s a lot of beautiful architecture here, and a lot of paintings and history about the saints. If you haven’t seen it yet, definitely check it out!
So exquisite and serenity in every corner! The many fountains and fruit orchard are picturesque
Wow this was absolutely amazing. I love it here so so much. I learned so much and I felt at peace here. There is a special kind of a reverence and quiet here. Would go again!
Just a warning this place is serious on the dress code. It's is no joke. Women must wear long skirts and large scarf covering hair. Long sleeve shirt covering chest area. In the middle of nowhere. Very beautiful grounds with lots of waterfalls and you can enter some of the chapels. They do have a small trailer out front selling drinks and small tidbits. I purchased baklava inside the bookstore and bread but did not care for it.
An incredibly spiritual place. Here, one can feel the divine presence in every carefully laid stone, in every carefully grown plant, and the inhabitants' complacency. The concentration of spiritual power of all North America.
Remarkable and unique site in an unexpected location. Worth a quick visit. Check website for hrs and dress code.
The best place. I am lucky enough that i live 1 hour away from the Monastery!
